As the Head of Legal, you will be responsible for developing and executing the company’s legal strategy, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations across multiple jurisdictions, and managing legal risk. You will lead, mentor, and grow the legal team while being a hands-on advisor on key business and contractual matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Legal Strategy & Risk Management
- Execute the company's legal strategy in alignment with corporate goals.
- Advise on legal risks, opportunities, and obligations in all areas of business operations.
- Ensure corporate compliance with local and international legal frameworks.
- Team Leadership
- Manage, mentor, and grow a team of 3 internal lawyers.
- Design training and development plans to up-skill legal staff.
- Contracts & Commercial Law
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial agreements, including software licensing, SaaS, NDAs, vendor contracts, and partnership agreements.
- Develop templates and streamline contracting processes.
- Regulatory & Compliance
- Monitor and interpret regulatory developments in relevant jurisdictions.
- Establish internal controls and processes to ensure regulatory compliance (e.g., GDPR, IP, data privacy, export controls).
- Dispute Resolution
- Manage pre-litigation and litigation processes in coordination with external counsel.
- Oversee legal audits and investigations
- Stakeholder Communication
- Act as a trusted advisor to the executive team and various departments (IT, finance, sales).
- Represent the legal function in strategic decision-making and due diligence processes.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Law degree from an accredited university and bar admission in at least one jurisdiction.
- Minimum 7–10 years of legal experience, preferably with a mix of private practice and in-house experience in tech or SaaS companies.
- Experience managing or mentoring legal team.
- Deep understanding of commercial law, contract negotiation, corporate governance, IP, and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong business acumen and the ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in legal operations and contract management tools is a plus.
- Experience working across multiple jurisdictions is preferred.
